Kyuramen - Downtown Chicago: Experience Authentic Ramen Bliss

Was walking by and the menu posted in the window looked interesting. I asked if there was a seat at the bar and the very nice hostess gave me the option of by the bar or the open kitchen. I chose to seat by the kitchen. Literally as I was being seated Boom ( my waitress) came over and asked if I wanted some water while she gave me some time to look at the menu. The menu is extensive with several options in every category. They also have a few combo options also. I opted to try squid as an appetizer and a spicy ramen dish. Boom recommended both and she did not steer me wrong. The squid was hot, crispy DBS perfectly fried. It was served with a creamy sauce that made a nice accompaniment. Tasted like a mix of sweet chili and mayo. The ramen was delicious. There was pork, tofu, corn, a soy egg and the broth was very savory with just the right amount of spice. Boom checked on me often and was super helpful. For my second meal in Chicago, I wish I was in town longer. It's worthy of a second visit.

Ramen always hits differently when the weather dips below 20, and Kyuramen was the perfect spot to warm up on a cold day. We ordered both ramen and omurice, and both dishes were delicious. The service was quick and efficient. We were seated right away, and our food arrived in a timely manner. One of the features was the unique decor, especially the tree in the back of the restaurant. It was a fun touch to be able to write a message on a card and hang it on the tree, adding a personalized experience. Overall, Kyuramen provided a great meal, fast service, and a cozy atmosphere--definitely a spot I'll be returning to when the weather calls for some comforting ramen!

If there is a long line, you'll need to waitlist at the kiosk. They have pretty cool seating areas like a hexagon seating area or a private seating booth with curtains. We got lucky and got a private seating booth with curtains. I think the experience is great. I ordered the combo, which comes with Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and Steamed Pork Bao Bun. The Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen was really good, great broth flavor, noodles were good, and chashu were soft and tender. They only gave 2 pieces of chashu and half an egg. The Steamed Pork Bao Bun was delicious and the pork was also tender. Everything was great! Was craving something more savory for lunch and decided to drop in. The place was clean the decor was traditional and the staff were very friendly. Miso ramen with gyoza was all I needed and the ramen came faster than the gyoza. The deep miso flavor and perfectly cooked chashu pork came with the perfect portion of noodles. Gyoza was good but my focus was all on the ramen. The button services makes it easier for you to have uninterrupted conversation with your companions. No having to answer how the food was awkwardly when you just took a big bite. Great option for a savory lunch that will keep you full for a few hours.

WHAT I ORDERED: Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, Chili Garlic Edamame PARKING: Street parking but can be hard to find INSIDE: Fun and interesting seating area that looks like a honeycomb as well as private booth seatings. It was packed on a Saturday night but you put your name on the guestlist and it wasn't a super long wait. Staff was friendly and service was relatively quick. THE FOODS/DRINKS: The ramen was delicious but wasn't as spicy as I expected. The spices on the table was made to good use though as you can add as much/little as you like. The broth had good umami and the texture of the ramen noodles had a nice chew. Could've passed on the edamame though as the flavors were bland.

We came here for dinner after a long walk in Chicago downtown. It was an interesting place and we really liked the interior decor. Service was great; servers were very attentive. We ordered two ramen (sapporo miso ramen and kimchi ramen), Omurice with tonkatsu, popcorn chicken and Thai iced tea. In terms of taste, both ramen and Thai iced tea were great. Omurice was very interesting and fun, especially how they cut the egg and pour the curry sauce over, but the taste was ok. The fried rice was hard and not that fresh. Finally, the popcorn chicken was not as crispy.

We visited Kyuramen as a party of two without a reservation and were seated within ten minutes. Although the honeycomb booths were full, we were seated in a private and cozy booth that we really enjoyed. For food, we ordered the Classic Japanese Omurice combo with Thai Iced Tea and Combination A, which included Tokyo Tonkotsu Shouyu Ramen, matcha pudding with red bean, and steamed pork bao buns. The omurice was beautifully presented, cut table-side, and had a nice spicy kick. The Thai Iced Tea was well-balanced and complemented the meal perfectly. The ramen was flavorful, and the bao buns were juicy and delicious. The matcha pudding was a delightful way to end the meal. Service was prompt, and our waiter was attentive throughout the meal. Can't wait to come back to try their other dishes!

Very cute seating areas with honeycomb- shaped booths. I don't usually like ramen that much, but this place was really good! I got the vegetable ramen and it was flavorful and fresh. My friends also got some of the matcha and jelly desserts, both of which were tasty. Quick seating for a walk-in party of 4! Our waiter was also very nice and friendly.
